Welcome to Canlife Correspondence!

What is "canlife" exactly?  Well, if you've heard of the ever-growing trend called #vanlife, it's like that but living in and working from a "canned ham" style vintage travel trailer.  

In 2022, we started Canlife Correspondence, our Almost Monthly Newsletter, as a way to share both written and visual travel stories, upcoming seminars, full-time RV living tips, stunning images from the places we've been, gear we've tested and reviewed, deals and discounts on our favorite RV and camping gear, good news about the environment, our favorite camp recipes, and more.  Let us know if there is something you'd like to learn about, and we'll do our best to accommodate!

We've officially done it, y'all!  After nearly 13 years and 12 trips across the US-Canada border, July 24, 2025 marked the day that Hamlet made it to the northern-most village in Labrador -- the final Canadian province to which he can travel!   While Canada has a total of 10 provinces and 3 territories, the  territory of Nunvat  has no roads into it.  Hamlet will never be able to go, but  we  sure hope to go someday... “What do you eat?  I mean, you can’t possibly have many pots and pans and utensils in there….or store much food.”  If we only had a nickel for every time we’ve heard this question over the past 12 years, we could have bought enough groceries for a month. “You’d be surprised,” we always respond.  It doesn’t matter how big your kitchen is, it’s the size of your imagination that really matters!  All anyone really needs to cook is a heat source, a pot, and a spoon.  We are two foodies on the move and we have whittled our kitchen essentials down to what we need to make incredible meals, all with just a two burner stove or a campfire, a 12V fridge, and a few cooking essentials -- including just one small electric kitchen appliance.  Can you guess what it might be?  In our tiny space , there are some small and simple things that have made our life just a bit easier while living and cooking on the road.
